The Missouri state approved nurse aide programs must have a minimum of seventy-five (75) hours of classroom training and one hundred (100) hours of on-the-job practice. The CNA courses prepare individuals for jobs in long-term care facilities and hospitals. The program curriculum should focus on teaching skills for resident care performed under the direct supervision of a licensed or registered nurse. Some of the topics mandatory for nurse aide students include: basic nursing skills; fire and disaster safety; resident rights; ways of caring for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other mental conditions.
