Graduates of nurse aide training programs in Louisiana must sit for the competency evaluation within one month (thirty days) of program completion. According to the rules and regulations set by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the entire training and certification process for a nurse aide should not take longer than four months. Each candidate has three opportunities to pass the skills and the written or oral evaluation.
