Individuals competent to work as nursing assistants are placed on the Delaware CNA Registry. A nurse aide certification in this state has to be renewed every twenty-four months. The registry listing shows if an individual's certification is active and in good standing. This is very important for employers. Skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities in Delaware are only allowed to hire nursing assistants who have an active certification and do not have negative findings. Registry listings that are not acceptable to these employers include those with findings of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment of residents, as well as misappropriation of property.
