A nursing assistant certification that has not been renewed and which is no longer eligible for renewal becomes lapsed. To reactivate your status on the Connecticut nurse aide registry you must retake and pass both the skills and the written sections of the certification exam. Once you pass the state nurse aide exam, your certification will be renewed. Further training is not necessary in this case.
If your nurse aide certification status has become lapsed or expired and you have been working as a CNA or in a position where you have provided direct personal care, but you failed to submit your employment verification, you may submit your employment verification forms to the CT Department of Public Health and your certification will be renewed.
