CNA Training Programs in California
One of the nursing assistant training programs in El Dorado County, California, is conducted every fall semester at Lake Tahoe Community College. Prospective students have the opportunity to enroll in nurse aide classes once a year, and complete this state-approved, one hundred and sixty-eight (168) hours training program in twelve weeks. Three months of study is the typical CNA program length at community colleges. The total estimated cost for the nurse aide course is $500. This price includes all the materials you will need to complete the course, the college tuition, and the CNA state exam fee. Students are responsible for obtaining immunizations and a physical examination. Those accepted into the program are required to attend all classes and clinical sessions which take place three days per week.
The course instructors are registered nurses with extensive experience in long-term care environments. Unlike other educational facilities which offer clinical experiences in nursing homes only, the Lake Tahoe Community College provides students with hands-on training in both long-term facilities and hospital environments. The college has formed an educational and training partnership with Barton Memorial Hospital, where CNA students provide direct client care to patients under the supervision of a clinical instructor. Approved by the California Department of Health Services, the nurse aide training courses at Lake Tahoe College prepare individuals to pass the California nurse aide certification exam, and obtain work as certified nursing assistants.

CNA Programs in Siskiyou, Solano, Santa Cruz and Plumas Counties, California
Nursing assistant programs prepare individuals for challenging the nurse aide certification exam and for entry level positions in health care environments. Each state has the authority to decide how many hours of training a nursing assistant course must consist of, as long as the minimum federal requirement of seventy-five hours is met. Students interested in attending CNA classes have a wide array of choices when it comes to selecting a training facility.
Nursing assistant courses are conducted at nursing homes, vocational schools, private schools, and community colleges. Program length, admission requirements, and cost of training vary depending on the policies of every training facility. Several states have implemented legislation which requires licensed long-term care facilities to reimburse CNA employees for the costs associated with training. An individual who has paid for nursing assistant training classes and who becomes employed by a nursing home within a year of obtaining certification, is eligible for financial reimbursement. Compared to other training programs in the health care field, nursing assistant classes are relatively short and inexpensive. Obtaining state certification as a CNA is the main requirement for securing a nurse aide job at a nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.
