Nurse Aide Training Programs in Utah
What are your top priorities when it comes to choosing a nursing assistant training program in Utah? There are a variety of things we seek in a good nurse aide course including affordable price, quality of instruction, reasonable program length, flexible class schedule, and a welcoming study environment. Cole Holland Training Center with campuses in Orem and West Valley City is one of the schools you should consider when looking for nursing assistant courses in Utah. The school's mission is to prepare well trained nursing assistants and phlebotomists for obtaining state certification and entry-level jobs in the health care field. At Cole Holland Training Center you have the choice to enroll in certified nursing assistant training courses during the day or during the evening. Adult students who have family and work responsibilities have the option to enroll in the evening CNA classes.
Night time courses allow you to pursue an education while keeping your current job or taking care of other responsibilities during the day. Both the day and evening nurse aide programs require two weeks to complete. The cost of the certified nursing assistant program at Cole Holland Training Center is $375 making this program the least expensive program in Utah, bar none. This price covers the tuition cost for classroom and clinical instruction, the required textbook and workbook, practice exams, scrubs, a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope set as well as DVDs for reviewing nurse aide skills. Approved by the State of Utah, this nursing assistant training program requires eighty hours of combined theoretical and hands-on instruction. Nurse aide students who successfully complete the training at Cole Holland Training Center are qualified to sit for the Utah nursing assistant competency evaluation. If you are interested in this CNA training program, we encourage you to review the nursing assistant class calendar and apply early as classes tend to fill up quickly.

CNA Programs in Utah ( Page 2 )
Licensed long-term care facilities are known to offer free CNA training programs in Utah to students who meet the admission criteria. Nursing homes provide students with training as well as offers of employment upon graduation. Many nurse aide trainees begin working in the facility once they complete the nursing assistant courses. How soon should you become certified as a nursing assistant considering that you have already completed a nurse aide training class in Utah? If you plan to remain or become employed as a nurse aide in a long-term care facility, then you should wait no longer than four months before obtaining certification. All long term care facilities must abide to the four-month rule since it is mandated by the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987.
The Nursing Home Reform Act is an essential part of the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA), and its goal is to improve the quality of care received by residents of nursing homes. The Utah nurse aide exam consists of two separate parts: the hands-on skills examination and the written or oral test. Each nurse aide candidate need to have the ability to measure vital signs accurately and this demonstration is always part of the clinical exam. To ensure that patients receive basic care from well trained, qualified individuals, all those who complete a nurse aide training course in Utah must pass the state certification exam within one hundred and twenty days (four months) of program completion.

I have finished my CNA training and have only two more days of clinicals. I do however have some hearing loss and very little feeling in the tips of my fingers. What sort of letter does my doctor need to provide for me to take with me for my state exam to allow me to use automated blood pressure and pulse equipment. I live in Utah.

I am not familiar with the process of testing when someone requires special accommodations, however, I do know that you need to call the testing center first and let them know you need special accommodations. Ask them what sort of letter is required after you explain your particular situation. I believe that your doctor needs to document the hearing loss as well as the loss of feeling in your fingertips, and sign the letter. The testing center should know exactly what type of letter is needed and inform you when you contact them to schedule your test.
