CNA Training Programs in Texas Region 3 - Metroplex
There are several career oriented educational programs, which provide not only classroom instruction but hands-on training to prepare you for a successful future in the health care industry. Certified nursing assistant training is one of the fastest, affordable, and accessible educational paths for those interested in entry-level health care positions. Understanding the increasing need for qualified, well-prepared nurse aide workers throughout the state, Collin County Community College has developed and launched a high-quality nursing assistant training program at an affordable cost. Offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters, the nurse aide courses are being conducted at the McKinney campus and follow the state-required training curriculum. To qualify for program admission prospective nurse aide students must meet specific criteria. Individuals must submit a complete immunizations record prior to course enrollment.
Because there are a limited number of students who may enroll in a given class, applications for the nursing assistant training courses should be submitted early, well before the beginning of the semester. Nurse aide trainees must pass both the clinical and the classroom portions of the course in order to graduate and receive a certificate of completion. What is the approximate length of the CNA program at the Collins College? Summer sessions are the shortest, requiring one month for program completion. Nursing assistant courses conducted during the fall and spring semesters are approximately six weeks long. Because the length and cost of the next available training course is subject to change, potential students are encouraged to contact and speak with the school CNA program coordinator.

How many hours per year does a CNA in Texas need to work to not lose the certification? Can she have worked 10 hours one year and on the second year not worked but just needs to show where she worked the previous year to not lose the CNA certification?

You must show proof of paid nursing assistant services in the last twenty-four months since your last renewal in order to keep your Texas CNA certification active. Nurse aides renewing their certification after September 1, 2013, are required to complete 24 hours of in-service education every two years. All approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs are eligible to offer in-service education. You may contact the Texas nurse aide registry at 512-438-2050 to verify this information. The facility where you work (or have worked) submits employment information to the Texas nurse aide registry once a year, however, if the facility does not perform this service then you are required to send the information to the registry. You may verify if your certification is still active by accessing the online verification system. You may verify the status of your CNA certification here: DADS Employability Status Check Search.
