Nurse Aide Programs in Tennessee
Many adult students choose to pursue an educational program part-time. Even though part-time CNA training programs may take longer to complete than full-time courses, these students are able to keep their day time jobs and income while returning to school. When attending a full-time nurse aide course this is out of the question, and if you want to keep your job you need to search for alternative options which offer night-time classes a few times per week. Clinical and hands-on experiences are usually clustered during the weekends to make it convenient for adult, working students. The majority of part-time CNA training programs are offered by technical and vocational schools as well as by two-year community colleges.
Long-term care facilities such as nursing homes and rehabilitation centers do not commonly offer part-time options, but it does not hurt to contact them and ask. The cost of a nurse aide course at a community college must be covered by the student and usually there is no financial help for certification programs. Some nursing homes may pay students a low hourly wage while they complete the theoretical and clinical portions of the training and then offer employment upon graduation at a higher hourly rate. Community colleges and vocational schools are known to help students find some form of financial assistance that helps toward paying the CNA program tuition. It is always a good idea to speak to the financial office advisor at your local community college and ask which organizations in your area might provide sponsorship to those in need.

CNA Training Programs in Tennessee ( Page 1 )
Nursing assistant programs prepare individuals for challenging the nurse aide certification exam and for entry level positions in health care environments. Each state has the authority to decide how many hours of training a nursing assistant course must consist of, as long as the minimum federal requirement of seventy-five hours is met. Students interested in attending CNA classes have a wide array of choices when it comes to selecting a training facility.
Nursing assistant courses are conducted at nursing homes, vocational schools, private schools, and community colleges. Program length, admission requirements, and cost of training vary depending on the policies of every training facility. Several states have implemented legislation which requires licensed long-term care facilities to reimburse CNA employees for the costs associated with training. An individual who has paid for nursing assistant training classes and who becomes employed by a nursing home within a year of obtaining certification, is eligible for financial reimbursement. Compared to other training programs in the health care field, nursing assistant classes are relatively short and inexpensive. Obtaining state certification as a CNA is the main requirement for securing a nurse aide job at a nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.

How does one renew their CNA/CNT license in the state of Tennessee?
Admin on August 31, 2009 at 06:22 PM
The state of Tennessee requires renewal of nursing assistant certificates every two years. To renew a CNA certificate one must provide proof of eight hours of paid CNA employment within the last two years. The following documents qualify as valid proof of employment for certified nursing assistants: a pay stub; a payroll printout; or, a notarized attestation form. One of the valid documents must be submitted to the Tennessee Nurse Aide Registry for approval and subsequent renewal of a nurse aide certification.
