Nurse Aide Training Programs in California
There are many CNA training programs to choose from in the state of California. You may select a two-year community college course, the CNA program offered by a private nurse aide school, or the on-the-job nurse assistant training program available at a licensed nursing home. What are the pre-screening requirements for those interested in nurse aide training classes? What are the pre-screening requirements for those interested in a nurse aide training class? All individuals interested in attending a nurse aide training program should first complete the fingerprinting process required by California law. The mandatory fingerprinting process is used to review your personal criminal record. If your record is clear, then you will be allowed to become certified as a nursing assistant in California.
A nurse assistant student who has not submitted an application and his or her fingerprints for check-up, will not be allowed to complete the clinical portion of a CNA training program. To avoid this scenario, you are encouraged to review and ensure you meet the health and conviction screening requirements necessary for certification prior to beginning a nurse aide training program. Why are these type of screenings mandatory for nurse assistants? California is not the only state where a CNA must have a clean record. All other states have similar laws which have been passed with the intention to protect the clients of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

CNA Training Programs in Los Angeles County, California
Nursing assistant programs prepare individuals for challenging the nurse aide certification exam and for entry level positions in health care environments. Each state has the authority to decide how many hours of training a nursing assistant course must consist of, as long as the minimum federal requirement of seventy-five hours is met. Students interested in attending CNA classes have a wide array of choices when it comes to selecting a training facility.
Nursing assistant courses are conducted at nursing homes, vocational schools, private schools, and community colleges. Program length, admission requirements, and cost of training vary depending on the policies of every training facility. Several states have implemented legislation which requires licensed long-term care facilities to reimburse CNA employees for the costs associated with training. An individual who has paid for nursing assistant training classes and who becomes employed by a nursing home within a year of obtaining certification, is eligible for financial reimbursement. Compared to other training programs in the health care field, nursing assistant classes are relatively short and inexpensive. Obtaining state certification as a CNA is the main requirement for securing a nurse aide job at a nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.

How can I tell if my C.N.A certificate is active? If it is not active how do I go about renewing it?
Admin on July 23, 2012 at 06:04 PM
A CNA certificate is typically valid for two years after which renewal is necessary. If you have the certificate look for an expiration date. If you do not have the certificate then go to the CNA registry for your state and check your status online. The site requires you to enter personal information such as name and date of birth in order to display your nurse aide status. In some states you may also access this information by phone. If your nursing assistant certification has expired you most likely have to retake and pass the CNA exam although some states require retraining as well. Federal regulation requires that an individual work at least eight hours, for pay, in the provision of nursing services without a two year break to remain active. Please note that renewal requirements may differ from state to state and may change over time and that some states make a distinction between inactive and expired CNA licenses. Locate the contact information for the CNA registry of your state and contact them for up-to-date and accurate information regarding these requirements.
