CNA Schools in Northwest Texas - Texas Region 2
Are there any free nursing assistant classes in Texas? CNA programs which are offered free of charge do not usually come without strings attached. Most nursing homes and other long-term care facilities might offer free nurse aide courses to students who agree to work in their facilities for an agreed-upon period of time. If you are looking for a nursing assistant course free of charge then you need to call providers in your area and inquire about program availability. Since a large number of students have the same goal as you, to be trained for free, keep in mind that competition for such courses is high.
Long-term care facilities do not want to incur the costs without any benefit and therefore they seek hard-working, motivated individuals who consent to working as certified nurse aides in their institution upon graduation. Signing a work contract should not be a problem for anyone looking to become a nurse aide since the goal of training is to obtain a job in the future. One of the most important things is to make sure you select a nursing home where you feel comfortable working and commit to the least amount of time possible, preferably not more than six months. If for some reason you dislike the working environment then you are free to leave after that time period.

When will Texas allow CNAs to renew their licenses online instead of mailing?
Admin on August 15, 2009 at 10:21 AM
The Texas Department of Aging and Disability decides how CNA certification renewals are conducted. You may want to contact them and ask if online CNA license renewals will become available soon. Nurse aides renewing their certification after September 1, 2013, are required to complete 24 hours of in-service education every two years. All approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs are eligible to offer in-service education.
