Nurse Aide Training Classes in Tennessee
Are there any free CNA training programs in Tennessee? The majority of free nurse aide courses are offered by licensed nursing homes in Tennessee. Students who agree to commit to employment in a nursing home upon graduating from a CNA training program do not have to pay for the tuition or the state certification exam fee. Most long term care facilities do not advertise their cost free CNA training classes except when they acutely need additional certified nurse aides on staff. If you are a dedicated, hard working individual who wants to enter the health care field as a certified nursing assistant, you should contact long-term care facilities in your area and interview for admission into one of their training programs. What are the usual requirements for admission in cost free nurse aide classes? Some facilities require that applicants have a high school education but there are some which will overlook having a diploma or GED.
You must have a clean criminal background check, be in good physical and mental condition, and have a professional attitude. Licensed nursing homes which provide CNA training classes must have state-approved educational programs and adhere to the minimum training requirements for nurse assistants in Tennessee. Seventy-five (75) hours of clinical and theoretical instruction must be completed in order to challenge the CNA certification exam in Tennessee. How long must one work for a nursing facility once they complete a free nursing assistant class? Prior to enrolling in a sponsored training course you should find out and agree upon the facility's work commitment plan. Some nursing homes require a minimum of six months of work while others request approximately one year.

CNA Courses in Tennessee ( Page 3 )
Nursing assistant programs prepare individuals for challenging the nurse aide certification exam and for entry level positions in health care environments. Each state has the authority to decide how many hours of training a nursing assistant course must consist of, as long as the minimum federal requirement of seventy-five hours is met. Students interested in attending CNA classes have a wide array of choices when it comes to selecting a training facility.
Nursing assistant courses are conducted at nursing homes, vocational schools, private schools, and community colleges. Program length, admission requirements, and cost of training vary depending on the policies of every training facility. Several states have implemented legislation which requires licensed long-term care facilities to reimburse CNA employees for the costs associated with training. An individual who has paid for nursing assistant training classes and who becomes employed by a nursing home within a year of obtaining certification, is eligible for financial reimbursement. Compared to other training programs in the health care field, nursing assistant classes are relatively short and inexpensive. Obtaining state certification as a CNA is the main requirement for securing a nurse aide job at a nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.

Will a W2 tax form work for proof of employment in Tennessee?
Admin on August 10, 2009 at 11:31 PM
According to the Tennessee Nurse Aide Registry, acceptable proof of employment for renewing a CNA certificate may be one of the following documents: a pay stub, a payroll printout or a notarized attestation form. A W2 tax form is not considered acceptable proof of employment for a nursing assistant because it does not show what your job duties were. To make sure that this is indeed the case, I suggest that you call the registry to verify that a W2 tax form is not acceptable proof of employment.
