Is there a difference in terms of quality of education between free nurse aide training classes in North Carolina and low-cost CNA programs? Your decision to select a CNA training program should not only involve cost but we understand that the program tuition plays a major role in determining which course you will attend. Free certified nursing assistant courses are offered by non-profit organizations and by long-term care facilities which get reimbursed for the costs by the federal government. Student enrolled in free CNA classes are not expected to dare criticize the program or the instructors since the training comes at no cost to them.
If you have issues with how you are being trained either in the classroom or in clinical practice, your complaints may fall on deaf ears. You may be better off choosing a low-cost nurse aide program where you are treated respectfully and in which your input is appreciated. References are great when it comes to a well managed CNA training class. Ask to speak with other students who have attended the program and make sure you find out how they have been treated as trainees, how much did the instructors help them grasp the material and skills presented in the classroom and clinical practice, and if they would recommend the class to others.

My sister is moving to North Carolina from Oklahoma and she has a current CNA certification for that state. How would she go about getting re-certified within NC? Where could she obtain study materials and where could she take this test? We live in Wayne County and would like to know where the nearest facilitator of this test would be? Thank you.

North Carolina does not accept CNA certification transfers from other states. To become a certified nursing assistant in North Carolina, your sister must challenge and pass the nurse aide I state examination. To obtain the CNA candidate handbook, see a list of available test locations, schedule the CNA exam, and complete an exam application visit the following link: North Carolina Nurse Aide I and Medication Aide Testing. Good luck!
