CNA Classes in Northwest Texas
Are there any facilities, colleges, or private schools offering free nursing assistant training programs in Texas? To qualify for admission into free nurse aide courses a student must either meet certain financial criteria or must agree to work for a facility upon graduation. Skilled nursing facilities are the ones who train individuals for free but only when they have a need for additional CNA staff. Private nurse aide schools may help students obtain different forms of financial aid and grants to help cover their educational expenses. One such privately owned school is the Gideon Services Incorporated. This educational center has specialized in training certified nursing assistants in Dallas, Texas. The nurse aide program curriculum has been approved by the Texas Department of Human Services. The school has developed a partnership with several organizations and charities such as the Texas Workforce Commission, Catholic Charities, the World Relief organization, which sponsor qualified prospective students. Nurse aide students who are not able to cover the cost of training receive sponsorships from one or more of the above mentioned organizations and thus complete their nursing assistant classes for free.
An interview with a counselor prior to enrollment into the program is strongly suggested for those seeking financial assistance. The CNA courses are employment oriented, require one hundred and twenty (120) hours of instruction, and are being thought by experienced instructors. Students participate in classroom lectures and laboratory demonstrations followed by clinical practice in a designated nursing home. The Texas certification exam is administered at the nursing facility where clinical practice is conducted. A high school diploma is not required for enrollment into the program but all students must be at least eighteen years of age. One does not need any previous medical or health care background in order to be admitted into the CNA training courses.

Hello, I need to talk to someone about renewing my CNA license in Texas. I tried calling the phone number and I am not getting anywhere. If you can help me that would be great. Thanks so much.

A renewal mailer is typically sent to you three months prior to the expiration date listed on your nurse aide certificate. If you did not receive the renewal forms or if your certificate has expired, you need to keep calling the CNA registry and speak with a representative. If you have the option of leaving a message make sure you give your full name, phone number, and reason for calling so that someone may contact you. Nurse aide registration (certification) activities are conducted by the NFA (Nursing Facility Administrator) Licensing Branch (512-438-2050) and include approval and monitoring of nurse aide training and competency evaluation programs (NATCEP) and issuance and continuance of nurse aide registrations, including oversight of nurse aide testing development and administration. Nurse aides renewing their certification after September 1, 2013, are required to complete 24 hours of in-service education every two years. All approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs are eligible to offer in-service education.
