CNA Courses in West Texas
Are CNA classes difficult and will I be able to complete such a program? A certain degree of nervousness and anticipation is normal for every student, especially for those who are entering the field of health care. Direct care workers provide care to residents, and the clients' well being must be protected at all times. Nurse aide courses are not very difficult and do not require prior knowledge of complex science, math, or advanced reading skills. As long as you dedicate time to studying what is being thought in class, you ask questions when something is unclear, and do not skip class or clinical, you will complete the nurse aide course without difficulty.
The key to success while enrolled in a CNA class is to develop a good relationship with your instructor and to communicate your needs. Since most classes are kept small, the instructor has time to address your individual needs, correct and guide you when performing clinical skills, and point out concepts that you might need to spend more time studying when your exam grades are less than perfect. Good instruction makes a big difference when it comes to challenging the state CNA examination. Some students may benefit from watching videos on nurse aide skills and concepts with additional practice at home whenever they have some free time. Any student can be successful when they make a commitment to dedicate time and effort towards their nurse aide education.

I had a CNA certification in Texas, but due to a move overseas, my certification is now out dated. We currently live in Kansas, and I want to pursue an LPN degree, however the school requires a CNA license for admission. My question is, in Kansas is it possible having already been a CNA to just be able to take the test?

Since your Texas CNA certificate has expired, I believe that you must repeat the nurse aide training and pass the state exam in order to become certified in Kansas. With an active nursing assistant certificate from Texas you could have applied for reciprocity (reciprocity applicants must pass the Kansas CNA exam and are not required to repeat the training in order to obtain certification). You should contact the Kansas nurse aide registry to verify this information. Good luck!
