Nursing assistant training and competency programs are being provided by community colleges, vocational and technical schools, and private schools throughout the state of Louisiana. Nursing facilities can also offer nurse aide classes and clinical training. Students who complete the training at a nursing facility must take the certification exam at a site approved by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. CNA program graduates are eligible to take the competency exam only if they complete a state-approved course.
